1. The logic of physics: might makes right, So if and when a star explodes as a nova or a supernova, all of its planets get vaporized and no life is left in that solar system. And even if our sun can’t explode as a nova or a supernova, life on Earth and other planets will be extinguished by our expanding sun in its death throes. The life-giving star on which we now all depend will give no more light.
2. In sadness, then, a modern thinker can argue that no matter what humans accomplish in this solar system, when rock-melting heat engulfs the Earth and later when there is little or no light from the dimmed deadened sun, no more human life will be possible in this solar system. On the other hand, the misanthropes of today will shout together: “Good riddance.”
3. As far as today’s scientific experts can tell, the logic of physics works synergistically all the laws of physics together at the same time, every time, and for all time, and no matter how hard humans wish, think, dream, or pray, the logic of physics reigns supreme. Consequently to endure, humanity will in due time need to engineer and empower the migration of Earth-life to colonize other younger star systems in deep space.
4. When a volcano is about to erupt, wise humans leave the area. When a tornado or a hurricane is sighted, wise humans take shelter or relocate for a time. In due time, wise humans will plan how to relocate Earth-life to another part of space before the sun expands and dies. Either that, or human scientists and engineers will figure out how to use the laws of physics to keep the sun from burning out. But today as far as I know, there is no science and technology of solar rejuvenation. Other practical problems and questions present themselves to wise modern humans, as well.
5. Right now it appears unlikely that humanity will even endure for another thousand years, considering the threat of a global war or a space war involving biocidal weapons, chemical weapons, and other weapons of mass destruction controlled by either error-prone robot (computer operated) machines or even more fickle, unpredictable, error-prone human beings. Before science education turns to stellar manipulation or solar rejuvenation, science education needs to turn to human pacification. This revelation was made clear to me during my college years way back in the late nineteen fifties and early nineteen-sixties. And some decades later, the thought-provoking world-famous philosopher and spiritual teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti is known to have said the following:
6. “We were saying how very important it is to bring about, in the human mind, the radical revolution. The crisis, is a crisis in consciousness. A crisis that cannot anymore, accept the old norms, the old patterns, the ancient traditions. And, considering what the world is now, with all the misery, conflict, destructive brutality, aggression, and so on. Man is still as he was. Is still brutal, violent, aggressive, acquisitive, competitive. 7. In terms of atoms, molecules, moons, planets, stars and other purely physical bodies, the law of “might makes right” holds sway. When inventive human intelligence (mindfulness) enters into the reckoning, however, the intelligent (mindful) containment of fire is possible, and other physical energies can be managed intelligently. As soon as whole cultures – societies – communities – and their schools become aware of the central importance of human mindfulness, then the children whose intelligence proves superior or better will become valued and supported far more than those persons who appeal and are valued mainly for their own physical appeals or for the physical appeals of their products such as appealing speech, appealing good looks and good manners, or appealing culinary skills, athletic skills, artistry, and so on and on and on. So let us focus our present talents, skills, money, and other powers so that soon more and more professional educators and the parents who send their children to school come to agree with Jiddu Krishnamurti on “how very important it is to bring about, in the human mind,[[ and in all practical minded societies ]] the radical revolution.”
8. Not even trillions of jewels, coins, and bills can finance the mindful attention to and the clear understanding of and creation of large numbers of humans – whose intelligence is comparable to Krishnamurti’s mindfulness – when the nature of such intelligence is merely labeled “mystical” or “magical” or “satanic” or “psychotic” by “experts” in a well-meaning but sinful religion or pseudoscience whose supporters have no clear idea of what is terribly wrong in education so that all these confusing sinful professions have not ever been enlightened to the full human potential. Jiddu Krishnamurti was thus a kind of modern “Paul Revere” character except that the dreadful enemy now isn’t just “The British.” The enemy is in every nation the whole education system itself which sustains one or more of these sinful (error-prone) professions and trains its naive young people to aspire and study and reinforce one or more of them – as they are – and as their leaders aspire them to always remain – steadfastly in support of some sacred but not wholly true and provable dogmatic teachings about the world and about humankind, and other popular subjects even though not all of these subjects have even been proven to exist in reality. Remain free to question the virtues of “imagination for imagination’s sake” and “art for art’s sake.”
